Super Awesome Vacation

The first of February, everyone in our family is taking a 'super awesome vacation'! Jack and Aidan are going to visit Granny Witbeck- they get to take bubble baths, ride in Granny's car and go to the park and see the ducks. Abigail is going to vacation at my sister Melinda's house- she gets to sleep in Caroline's room, play with toys, and go to the CIRCUS! (Thanks Melinda, she is going to LOVE it!) Kydon and I are going to Argentina!! Yay! I think ours will be the most *super awesome*, but don't tell the kids- they all think theirs is the best! :)

We are going with Kydon's MBA group- they have two global residencies- one in Argentina and one in India and Dubai. I get to go along to this one!

Reasons I can't wait to go:

--Sleep! I can sleep all the way through the night! And sleep in if I want!
--Time alone with Kydon! What could be better? He will be gone a lot with school things, but we will be able to have all the evenings free, plus the weekend and traveling time. I am excited to spend time with him!
--Shopping. I love to shop, but never have time. I love to get things from cool places. Things I will be shopping for: I would LOVE to get a nativity scene from Argentina, but not sure if I will be able to find one this time of year. Leather goods- I've heard that with all the cattle there, they have tons of great leather products for good prices- let's think shoes and purses! Abigail is 1/4 Argentine, so it would be fun to get something for her from Argentina- have no idea what that would be, but I will be thinking about it as I look around. Cool artwork. When we used to travel a lot, we would try to get some sort of artwork from wherever we visited. I love looking at our walls and seeing cool pictures and remembering where we were when we bought it, so I will be looking for something like that. Not that I have any money..... darn!! I hate it when reality rears it's ugly head!! :)
--Food! I love to eat, I can't deny it. I have heard lots of good things about the food in Argentina! Yummy steak, empanadas, and the bakeries have all been recommended to me. I can't wait to try them out!
--Warm weather! It is summer there, in the 90's. These past two weeks have been freezing cold here- snow and everything, so it will be fun to break out the capris and t-shirts for a week!

I am so, so sad to be leaving the kids for a whole week. I am so grateful for everyone who is helping out with them! I resisted going, but Kydon was persistant, and now I am really excited. I know it will be hard, esp. since I probably won't be able to call much, but I will enjoy going and having a nice long break.
We have already watched 'Evita', so I think we are all ready! ;)

Bye-bye snow!

Well, during the night the snow turned to rain, and it was nothing but slush when we woke up and went outside. And Daddy went to work- total bummer! :) But it was fun while it lasted! And honestly, I am glad it doesn't last long! I don't miss living with months and months of snow!

Ok, to most of the USA, this isn't a big deal... but we in the South only see snow once every few years. So we are so excited that it is snowing tonight! Abigail ran outside saying "yea, yea, dooder-day". Too excited to eat dinner, except Abigail did take one piece with her as she ran around. And one note about the picture... I tried my best to make them wear coats and jackets, even had the hats and socks (for gloves) out... but they were not having anything to do with it! So don't look at the picture and think they are running around without coats, LOL. Well, actually they were running around without coats, but it wasn't my fault! LOL!

Hopefully tomorrow we will have enough to make a snowman! It was sticking to the grass really good, and it is the really nice big wet flakes. Plus if it is snowy, Daddy will stay home! A true snow day!

Then and Now

These pictures are a little old, but when I was sorting some of our old pictures, I thought it was funny to have the two different views....'Before' when our only babies were Tiger and Scout, and 'After' when we have much cuter little ones looking down on us!
We have had two funny 'twin moments' recently. Most of the time it feels like we have two very different boys who happen to share a birthday, but once in a while when they do the exact same thing at the exact same time, it is pretty hilarious. Last week I was putting all 3 down for naps. I laid the boys in their bed, then went to tuck Abigail in. Jack and Aidan decided to totally run around, jump on their beds and get a bunch of toys out. So when I finished with Abigail, I came down the hall saying "GET in BED!" I came in the door just as they both dive for their beds, and both bonk their heads on the wall trying to get in bed before I got there. It was so funny that I wasn't even mad anymore. Plus they were already crying, so I didn't have to get after them, haha.
The other 'twin moment' is from Abigail's birthday party. My parents got to the house first, and I let Abigail open the present from them before everyone got there. She opened up a gorgeous brown and pink dress with velvet, glitter and sparkles- all her favorite things. I said "Wow, go give Grandma and Granpa hugs and kisses and tell them thank you"! Jack and Aidan both immediately drop all toys they were playing with and run and dive at my parents- one to each- and they hug them tight and both say 'tank oo'. We were laughing all night!

Look Who's 4!

Happy Birthday Abigail! I can't believe my little princess is already 4. She requested the cake- "I want a Barbie cake where the Barbie comes out and the cake is her dress". I can't help but think of what we were doing 4 years ago. 4 years ago yesterday we were eating at California Pizza Kitchen with our good friends Steve and Michele Andersen, waiting and waiting for the caseworker to call and tell us she had been born. We were just giddy with lack of sleep and excitement! Today 4 years ago we were on a plane to Arizona.... and we met our sweet little one for the first time. I will never forget how she looked at us with those amazing big eyes, and was so alert the whole time we were there. Today 4 years ago I gave her her first bottle! Tomorrow is the day that we actually got to take her home. What a dream baby she was, in so many ways! I can't help but think of her wonderful birthmom. We love her so much. She was amazing with the courage and strength she showed to us. We will always be thankful for her, but especially on this day, when I'm sure her heart was breaking, and our hearts were bursting with joy.

Abigail claimed that she would give up her special 'blankie' when she was 4. She handed it to Kydon in the morning and said "here, I don't need this anymore". She wavered at naptime but stuck to it, and then couldn't go through with it at bedtime! :) We still have hope that she will give it up on her own, but I won't push it! I have to admit I think it is pretty cute that she still loves it so much.

We had an awesome birthday celebration- she woke up to the house all decorated with streamers and balloons and signs everywhere. We opened some gifts in the morning, then some after dinner. At 7pm, we had all the family (Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles and cousins) over for some cake and ice cream. The cousins all went crazy tearing the place up! If that isn't fun, I don't know what is! :) Her favorite gifts- princess roller skates, dresses from both Grandmas, a princess castle, candy make-up, and a purse big enough to almost store all her treasures in. We did have to go to the doctor today for a well-visit and shots, so that put an end to our fun! She is in the 89th percentile for height and 82nd for weight. What a good girl!

When Yahoo did away with their photo storage, I have been very slack about finding an alternative. Well, I finally did it. To see pictures of our trip to the inflatable playground, Christmas, and Abigail's birthday, just visit I will try to figure out how to post the link on the blog page, or you can just go there directly to see new pictures!

New Haircuts!

Just before Thanksgiving, Jack and Aidan were in need of a haircut. Kydon wanted to buzz it short, and I wanted to leave it long. So we compromised... with mohawks! Hey, they are only young once, right? We buzzed them off shortly after New Years, but they looked so cute with them! Aidan especially loved his- he would pat it and say "piece fall down?"- asking me to check and see if any pieces fell down! How cute! They look nice with their short hair now, but I do miss the long hair! I can't wait for it to grow out again!

Hi everyone! I have been thinking about trying the 'blog' thing for a while, so here it is! One of my goals this year is to keep in better touch with family and friends, so I thought this might be a good way to do it. I am still figuring it out, so give me some time! :)
