Do you ever...

Look at the clock, see 3:30 and think "Oh good- only 2 more hours until bedtime"!

After 4 days straight of up WAY past bedtime, I didn't feel bad at all moving it up an hour! And they all fell asleep within 10 min, so they were obviously ready! :)

I'm with Kayleen. We're looking at another 5-6 hours. I don't know how you get your kids to go to sleep so early. What time do you eat dinner? Does Kydon get to eat with you? I'm intrigued.

Dinner is a little tricky. Usually they have to eat something around 3:30, then I have dinner ready right when Kydon walks in at 5:15. As soon as dinner is done, they brush their teeth and get into PJ's. Then we read a couple books and go upstairs to bed.

On nights like tonight when they go early, I feed them dinner at 4:30, do the teeth and PJ's before Kydon gets home, then when he comes home we read books and go up to bed.

You also have to remember the flip side- 5:30 or 6 wake up. :(

Ugh, yes. And the thing is, now that Josie's older, she NEVER goes to sleep. I was the same way as a child, awake until all hours, so we don't enforce a strict bedtime with her, just a time when she needs to be in her room, but still, she comes out for this or that and it's driving me nuts. Last night she went to sleep around 11. GO AWAY already!!

The times we live in and family dynamaics are all so different and personal. I personally think little children need naps, at least sometimes. I know life can't always be routine and smooth, and that's OK, but if we are listening and watching the kids for what they need, things can be easier. I know my expectations are not usually what happens...so having fewer expectations might also help.
Love you all and I think you're doing a great job at being the best you can be at this challenging time of life!

I remember those days!!! Wish they were a part of my life now....it seems I am worried about all my other projects rather than taking care of my kids since they are older and do a lot for themselves! it is hard now but will be gone so soon!

Congrats on you surviving Kydon's school and to him for doing it!

I love school programs...well I did the first time;) now I love presenting ones with my little preschool. Tell Abigail I think "chop" is much better than drop!

Are there days you don't think that? I find myself day dreaming about bedtime!

I like the dinner to bed method. My kids work the "I'm hungry; I need a snack" thing almost every night. I think I may move bed time back some. I find that tired kids plus tired mom equals the spoiling of a great day. Today was definitely one of the 'eyes on the clock; counting down the hours' days'.

I know what you mean- an entire day of happiness can be ruined by just a few minutes of everyone being too tired.
